TeleMed2U Appoints Laura Dettmann as Chief Revenue Officer to Accelerate National Growth and Expand Specialty Care Access
TeleMed2U, a pioneering tele-specialty care company dedicated to using technology and comprehensive patient support services to deliver high-quality, affordable healthcare, has appointed Laura Dettmann as its new Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Reporting directly to CEO AJ Patel, Dettmann will play a critical role in refining the company’s specialty telemedicine growth strategy while strengthening partnerships with health plans and providers nationwide. Her appointment marks an important milestone in TeleMed2U’s mission to make specialty care accessible to all—regardless of geography or socioeconomic barriers.
As CRO, Dettmann will lead efforts to scale TeleMed2U’s network and deepen its integration with health plans, particularly those focused on improving chronic disease management. Her work will center on enabling health plans to adopt more connected, data-driven approaches that improve clinical outcomes, enhance member experience, and reduce care fragmentation. With an emphasis on strategic growth, Dettmann will guide sales and partnership initiatives to expand TeleMed2U’s presence in new markets, while optimizing its operational performance and value delivery across the care continuum.
Tackling the Specialty Care Access Crisis
Across the U.S., patients continue to face staggering wait times to see specialists—often waiting eight to twelve months or more for their first appointment. This prolonged delay can be detrimental, particularly for patients with chronic conditions requiring consistent follow-up care. For those living in “healthcare deserts”—regions with limited access to specialty providers—the challenge is even greater. These patients often face additional barriers such as travel distance, limited transportation options, and higher care costs, which can significantly impact their health outcomes.
Since its founding in 2011, TeleMed2U has sought to address this widespread access problem by creating a virtual care model that brings specialty expertise directly to patients, wherever they are. Through its robust tele-specialty platform, the company enables patients to receive timely evaluations, diagnoses, and long-term disease management from board-certified specialists—all without the need to leave their local community.
TeleMed2U’s growing network includes more than 500 providers across 20 medical specialties, encompassing endocrinology, rheumatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, and behavioral health. This breadth of expertise allows the company to support comprehensive, longitudinal care that aligns with the complex needs of diverse patient populations.
By combining advanced technology with its expanding provider network, TeleMed2U has built a scalable infrastructure that bridges the gap between primary care and specialty medicine. Its model not only accelerates patient access to expert care but also reduces scheduling delays, eliminates unnecessary referrals, and ensures continuity of care through coordinated clinical pathways.
Driving Growth Through Strategic Leadership
With the appointment of Laura Dettmann, TeleMed2U aims to amplify its reach and reinforce its position as a leader in specialty telemedicine. CEO AJ Patel highlighted Dettmann’s deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem and her extensive experience in working with health plans as key assets for the company’s next phase of growth.
“The TeleMed2U executive team is thrilled to welcome Laura Dettmann as Chief Revenue Officer,” said Patel. “She brings to the role deep industry acumen that will prove invaluable as she leads our sales function and helps scale our impact nationwide. Having collaborated with health plans for more than two decades, Laura has a unique understanding of the challenges they face in delivering seamless, integrated care—particularly when multiple point solutions and vendors compete within a single ecosystem. Her insight will be instrumental as we continue to expand our partnerships and enhance the member experience through technology-enabled specialty care.”
Dettmann’s career has been defined by her ability to drive business development and revenue growth within some of the healthcare industry’s most innovative digital health companies. Prior to joining TeleMed2U, she served as Vice President of Payor Sales at Sharecare, where she spearheaded strategies that strengthened the company’s relationships with health plans and drove significant market share gains. Her leadership was marked by a focus on aligning digital health tools with payor objectives—improving member engagement, reducing costs, and enhancing overall health outcomes.
Before her tenure at Sharecare, Dettmann held growth and leadership roles at Softheon, Welldoc, and HealthSparq, where she played pivotal roles in developing go-to-market strategies, scaling client partnerships, and executing revenue acceleration initiatives. Across these organizations, she developed a reputation for building strong client relationships and executing complex partnerships that align with the evolving needs of health systems, employers, and health plans.
Expanding Virtual Care for Chronic Disease Management
At TeleMed2U, Dettmann’s expertise will be critical in expanding the company’s partnerships with health plans seeking to deliver integrated, whole-person care. Chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and autoimmune disorders are on the rise, and managing these conditions effectively requires consistent specialist input—something that traditional care models often fail to provide.
TeleMed2U’s approach helps health plans overcome these gaps by offering scalable specialty care solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing clinical workflows. Through its digital infrastructure, patients can be triaged, diagnosed, and managed virtually, with their information shared securely across the care team. This model enables earlier intervention, better disease monitoring, and improved adherence to treatment—all of which contribute to better health outcomes and reduced costs for payors.
Dettmann will be tasked with expanding these capabilities and ensuring that TeleMed2U continues to serve as a trusted partner for health plans navigating the complexities of modern healthcare delivery. By leveraging her understanding of both payor dynamics and provider needs, she will work to design sustainable growth strategies that align patient-centered care with business performance.
Commitment to Technology, Access, and Experience
For Dettmann, joining TeleMed2U represents an opportunity to help redefine how patients access specialty care in a post-pandemic healthcare landscape increasingly shaped by technology and data.
“Reaching, engaging, and managing members with one condition is hard—an issue that becomes even more complex when comorbidities are involved,” Dettmann said. “As an industry, we have a responsibility to make care simple, convenient, and attainable. That begins with connecting members to the specialty care they need when they need it.”
She emphasized that TeleMed2U’s mission aligns perfectly with her own belief in creating frictionless care experiences through innovation. “I am thrilled to join such a passionate team focused on the core tenets that matter most—ensuring the best patient experience to reduce member abrasion, continuing to grow and scale our national network of specialty providers, and leveraging technology and AI to streamline workflows and operations,” she added.
Under her leadership, TeleMed2U is expected to deepen its use of artificial intelligence and data analytics to enhance clinical coordination, automate administrative tasks, and improve care outcomes. These advancements will further strengthen the company’s ability to deliver personalized, high-touch care to members across its expanding network.
A Vision for the Future of Specialty Telemedicine
As healthcare continues to evolve toward hybrid and virtual-first care models, TeleMed2U is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformation. The company’s model—combining advanced digital infrastructure, a national network of specialists, and a commitment to equitable access—addresses some of the most persistent barriers in healthcare delivery today.
With Laura Dettmann now driving revenue and strategic partnerships, TeleMed2U aims to build on its strong foundation and continue its mission of reshaping the specialty care landscape. Her leadership is expected to fuel the company’s national expansion, enhance its relationships with payors, and ensure that more patients—regardless of geography—can receive timely, coordinated specialty care.
Through innovation, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to patient experience, TeleMed2U is poised to extend its impact across the U.S. healthcare system—proving that high-quality specialty care can be both accessible and affordable in the digital age.
