On Saturday, June 22, 2024, RHÖN-KLINIKUM Campus Bad Neustadt will host the fifth annual Prevention and Health Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event promises a diverse array of activities including specialist lectures, informational booths, workshops, and hands-on activities for all ages focused on prevention and health awareness.
“People often realize the importance of their health only when they face illness and disruption to their daily lives. At RHÖN-KLINIKUM Campus Bad Neustadt, we consider health a core mission and aim to serve as a steadfast partner in our region for prevention, recovery, and post-illness care,” explains Dr. Nagham Soda, senior physician and nutritional specialist at RHÖN-KLINIKUM Campus Bad Neustadt, and the driving force behind the Prevention and Health Day. “Following the overwhelming interest and positive feedback from our 2023 event, we are delighted to bring back this initiative for another year,” Dr. Soda adds.
The day aims to promote public awareness of healthy lifestyles and improve health literacy. “Prevention is crucial for fostering a healthy society. RHÖN-KLINIKUM Campus Bad Neustadt has long emphasized preventive measures, advocating for their integration into everyday life,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. Sebastian Kerber, Chief Physician of Cardiology I Clinic and Medical Director of RHÖN-KLINIKUM Campus Bad Neustadt.
A highlight of the event is the vibrant red double-decker bus from the nationwide educational initiative “Herzenssache Lebenszeit.” Visitors can engage in direct conversations with experts to address queries and assess personal stroke and diabetes risks through testing. The bus offers measurements for blood pressure, blood sugar, and initial ultrasound examinations of brain-supplying vessels, complemented by informative materials.
The program features a rich variety of activities including specialized lectures on chronic conditions like obesity, workshops such as first aid training, ultrasound examinations of neck, leg, and abdominal vessels, consultations on heart failure management, pension planning advice, a nutrition quiz, and a smoothie bike. Information booths will be manned by the senior citizens’ advice service of Bad Neustadt, the Bavarian Red Cross, VdK Bayern, as well as various self-help groups and regional health partners. Young attendees can participate in activities like bicycle safety checks, plastering, and goal-wall shooting.
The Prevention and Health Day at RHÖN-KLINIKUM Campus Bad Neustadt aims to empower individuals with knowledge and practical tools to lead healthier lives, fostering community engagement and proactive health management.
