Select Medical Collaborates with Five Accredited Nursing Programs to Place Students in Clinical Rotations at Specialty Hospitals

Select Medical has announced the signing of clinical affiliation agreements with five universities and colleges across the United States. These partnerships will allow nursing students enrolled in accredited programs to gain hands-on clinical experience at Select Medical’s network of more than 140 specialty hospitals. The agreements are part of Select Medical’s uPLIFT program—an initiative designed to provide nursing students with frontline experience in caring for patients recovering from critical illness and inpatient rehabilitation. The program offers valuable clinical rotation opportunities to students in pre-licensure nursing programs at the following institutions:

  • Chamberlain University
  • Education Affiliates (Fortis Colleges/Institutes, Denver College of Nursing, St. Paul’s School of Nursing)
  • Herzing University
  • Nightingale College
  • Rasmussen University

Under the terms of the partnership, students in good academic standing at these schools will be eligible for clinical rotations at Select Medical hospitals, providing them with practical, real-world learning experiences in the field.

We’re excited to collaborate with such esteemed universities and colleges, along with the dedicated faculty and administrators who lead their nursing programs,” said David S. Chernow, CEO of Select Medical. “Together, we’ll help train the next generation of clinicians who can meet the growing demand for specialized healthcare. By combining the rigorous academic training these institutions provide with hands-on clinical experience at Select Medical facilities, we’ll produce highly skilled nurses who are well-equipped to care for an increasingly complex patient population.”

More than 12,000 nursing students graduate each year from the five partnering schools. The uPLIFT program aims to create pathways for students to gain essential clinical experience, helping to prepare them to deliver high-quality care in post-acute care settings.

We are thrilled to partner with Select Medical to expand opportunities for our nursing students to gain clinical rotation experience nationwide,” said Jonathan Tanner, Chief Growth Officer at Nightingale Education Group. “This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to equip the next generation of nurses with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. Through this collaboration, our students will gain valuable, hands-on experience that will ensure they are well-prepared to provide exceptional patient care with confidence and compassion.”

Gloria Skinner, Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations at Select Medical, also emphasized the importance of the program: “Offering nursing students clinical rotations across our hospital network not only provides them with the chance to learn from top clinicians in post-acute care, but also helps them build the real-world skills, confidence, and connections that are essential for success in their future careers.”
