Kansas residents eligible for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) will continue to benefit from UnitedHealthcare’s comprehensive care and wellness programs.
The State of Kansas has chosen UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas as one of the three managed care organizations to administer KanCare, the statewide Medicaid and CHIP, starting January 1, 2025.
Already serving KanCare beneficiaries, UnitedHealthcare will continue collaborating with the state, providers, and community-based organizations to expand access to care and address social determinants of health. The shared goal is to help KanCare members achieve health, wellness, and independence for a healthier Kansas.
“We are honored to continue our work with the state to build a program that provides high-quality, equitable care,” said Kevin Sparks, CEO of UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas. “We will continue to leverage data, deploy innovative initiatives, and expand capacity for our partners through community investments to increase access to care and reduce health disparities throughout the state.”
With over 10 years of experience serving KanCare members, UnitedHealthcare, along with its parent company UnitedHealth Group, employs more than 2,100 people in Kansas. The organization collaborates with local nonprofits and community organizations to improve access to essential health care and community resources, promoting healthier lives.
In the past 18 months, UnitedHealthcare has invested over $1.5 million in grants to community-based organizations for programs aimed at raising standards of care, improving health outcomes, and supporting the most underserved communities, including those in rural and frontier areas.
UnitedHealthcare currently serves more than 570,000 people in Kansas enrolled in employer-sponsored, individual, Medicare, and Medicaid benefit plans, with a network of 150 hospitals and over 22,000 physicians and care providers statewide.
