Inogen Appoints Naga Rameswamy as Chief Technology Officer to Accelerate Digital Health Innovation in Respiratory Care

GOTHENBURG, Sweden / SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Inogen, Inc. (Nasdaq: INGN), a pioneering medical technology company renowned for its innovative, portable oxygen concentrators and comprehensive home respiratory care solutions, today announced the appointment of Naga Rameswamy as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective September 29, 2025. Mr. Rameswamy joins Inogen from Alcon, the global leader in eye care, where he served as Vice President and Global Head of Digital Health Platforms. His appointment marks a strategic move by Inogen to further embed digital health, data intelligence, and connected device capabilities into its core product portfolio as the company seeks to redefine the future of respiratory care.

Kevin Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Inogen, emphasized the strategic importance of this leadership addition: “Naga’s deep background in digital health and connected device innovation makes him an ideal fit for Inogen as we continue to expand our technology leadership. His ability to integrate software, data, and devices to improve user experiences will be instrumental in advancing our pipeline and strengthening our competitive positioning in today’s underserved respiratory care market. We look forward to his contributions as a key member of our leadership team.”

Mr. Rameswamy brings over two decades of executive-level experience in the medical device and health technology sectors, with a distinguished track record in driving digital transformation, research and development (R&D), and global engineering excellence. His career has been defined by a relentless focus on human-centered design, regulatory-compliant innovation, and scalable technology platforms that bridge the gap between clinical efficacy and real-world usability.

Prior to his role at Alcon, where he led the development of cloud-connected platforms that empowered eye care professionals with real-time data and remote monitoring tools, Mr. Rameswamy spent nearly twenty years at GE Healthcare—a tenure that culminated in his appointment as Vice President of Digital Health Engineering. In that capacity, he spearheaded initiatives that redefined how medical devices interact with healthcare ecosystems. He pioneered secure device connectivity architectures, remote diagnostics capabilities, predictive maintenance systems, and integrated care management platforms across a wide range of modalities, including diagnostic imaging, ultrasound, and patient monitoring.

His work at GE Healthcare was instrumental in transforming legacy hardware into intelligent, connected systems capable of generating actionable insights for clinicians while improving operational efficiency for healthcare providers. Under his leadership, engineering teams developed solutions that enhanced product serviceability, extended equipment lifecycles, and significantly improved the user experience for patients, caregivers, and clinical staff alike.

Beyond technical expertise, Mr. Rameswamy is recognized for his ability to scale and lead high-performing global engineering organizations. He has successfully built cross-functional teams spanning software development, embedded systems, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. His collaborative approach has consistently fostered alignment across traditionally siloed functions—including manufacturing, sales, service, and post-market surveillance—ensuring that innovation is not only technically sound but also commercially viable and clinically meaningful.

At Inogen, Mr. Rameswamy will assume responsibility for the company’s entire technology strategy, including hardware and software R&D, digital health platforms, data analytics, cybersecurity, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into future product offerings. His mandate will be to accelerate the evolution of Inogen’s existing product line—already known for its portability, reliability, and patient-centric design—into a next-generation, connected ecosystem that delivers proactive, personalized respiratory care.

The respiratory care market, particularly in the home setting, remains significantly underserved despite the growing prevalence of chronic respiratory conditions such as COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, and sleep-disordered breathing. Millions of patients worldwide rely on oxygen therapy, yet many face challenges related to device usability, adherence, remote monitoring, and access to timely clinical support. Inogen’s vision is to address these gaps through intelligent, connected solutions that empower patients to manage their conditions more effectively while providing clinicians with real-time, actionable data.

“I am honored to join Inogen and its exceptional team,” said Mr. Rameswamy. “The company’s mission in respiratory care, its global reach, and its platform of trusted products provide a strong foundation for continued impact. I look forward to advancing our digital health and technology initiatives, building on the impressive programs already in place to deliver better experiences for patients and partners as we reach more people suffering from respiratory conditions.”

His appointment comes at a time when the convergence of medical devices and digital health is reshaping the healthcare landscape. Regulatory bodies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) are increasingly encouraging the development of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) and connected health solutions that improve outcomes while reducing system-wide costs. Inogen’s strategic investment in digital capabilities positions it to lead this transformation in the respiratory space.

Moreover, Mr. Rameswamy’s experience navigating complex regulatory environments—including FDA 510(k), CE Marking, ISO 13485, and cybersecurity frameworks like NIST and IEC 81001-5-1—will be critical as Inogen scales its digital offerings globally. His emphasis on secure, interoperable, and compliant technology aligns seamlessly with Inogen’s commitment to patient safety, data privacy, and clinical integrity.

Internally, Mr. Rameswamy is expected to foster a culture of agile innovation, leveraging human-centered design principles and rapid prototyping to accelerate time-to-market without compromising quality. Externally, he will play a key role in shaping strategic partnerships with health systems, payers, and technology enablers to expand Inogen’s ecosystem and drive adoption of its connected care model.

Inogen’s leadership believes that the integration of advanced technology into respiratory care is not merely an enhancement—it is a necessity. As healthcare shifts toward value-based models and remote patient management, the ability to collect, analyze, and act on real-world data will become a key differentiator. With Naga Rameswamy at the helm of its technology strategy, Inogen is poised to lead this evolution, ensuring that its solutions not only deliver oxygen but also deliver insight, support, and peace of mind to patients and providers alike.

The company expects Mr. Rameswamy’s leadership to catalyze a new era of innovation—one where Inogen’s devices are not just tools of therapy, but intelligent partners in lifelong respiratory health. His appointment underscores Inogen’s unwavering commitment to leveraging technology to improve lives, one breath at a time.
