Alleviate Health, Backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Launches to Boost Patient Recruitment

Alleviate Health Launches AI-Powered Solution to Transform Patient Recruitment in Clinical Trials, Secures $4.3M Seed Round Led by Andreessen Horowitz

Alleviate Health, an AI-driven clinical trial recruitment platform, has officially launched its product to the public, aiming to revolutionize how patients are recruited for clinical research. The company also announced a $4.3 million seed funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from notable investors including Jack Altman (Alt Capital), Ali Rowghani (First Harmonic), Sajith Wickramasekara (Benchling), Trey Holterman (Tennr), Josh Miller (Gradient Health), Max Cohen (Sprinter Health), and Christophe Rimann (Camber).

The company’s technology is already being adopted by seven of the top 15 clinical research site networks in the United States, including prominent names like Alcanza, CenExel, M3 Wake, Centricity, and Eximia, among others. By streamlining the patient recruitment process, Alleviate Health aims to reduce the operational burden on clinical research sites while simultaneously improving the patient experience and accelerating trial timelines.

The Patient Recruitment Challenge

Clinical research sites, which form the backbone of clinical trial execution, face significant operational challenges in patient recruitment. Staff at these sites are often inundated with thousands of potential patients who express interest in participating in trials. These staff members must navigate complex workflows to reach out to each candidate, determine eligibility based on protocol criteria, and coordinate prescreening and scheduling. This coordination often involves juggling multiple sponsor and site systems, creating a fragmented and time-consuming process.

The traditional approach to patient recruitment relies heavily on manual outreach, which often leads to inefficiencies such as extended phone tag, scheduling conflicts, and delayed follow-ups. The result is a slower recruitment process, overworked staff, and delayed trial timelines — challenges that directly impact the overall success and speed of clinical trials.

How Alleviate Health Solves the Bottleneck

Alleviate Health addresses these challenges with a human-in-the-loop AI system designed to engage patients 24/7 via SMS and voice channels. The platform can verify patient eligibility against trial protocols, manage scheduling, and coordinate visits and calls, significantly reducing the need for manual outreach. By automating repetitive tasks, the technology frees up clinical staff to focus on high-value interactions, preserving the human touch essential to patient engagement while improving operational efficiency.

All interactions with patients, including preferences and medical data, are captured in a purpose-built clinical research CRM. This system allows research sites to track patient engagement comprehensively, optimize recruitment workflows, and improve recruitment outcomes over time.

“Our mission is to empower research sites with technology designed specifically for their needs and the patients they serve,” said Saathvik Boompelli, CEO and Co-founder of Alleviate Health. “Clinical sites are the backbone of every clinical trial. Our platform enables these teams to handle more trials efficiently while creating a seamless experience for patients.”

John Xu, CTO and Co-founder of Alleviate Health, emphasized the operational impact, stating, “Our technology allows our customers, who often juggle dozens of trials simultaneously, to do more with less. We streamline processes while maintaining the quality of patient interactions, which is critical in clinical trials.”

Real-World Impact

Since its inception, Alleviate Health has facilitated more than 500,000 patient interactions across over 190 research sites in the United States and Canada. The platform has supported recruitment for more than 300 unique clinical trials, demonstrating its scalability and ability to accelerate trial timelines.

Carlos Orantes, CEO of Alcanza Clinical Research, highlighted the tangible benefits of Alleviate Health’s platform, noting, “The impact Alleviate has had on our recruitment function is remarkable. Within the past 10 months of working together, the platform has enabled the scheduling of hundreds of on-site screening appointments across multiple sites in our network. This level of efficiency and consistency was something I wouldn’t have believed possible when we first started.”

By automating repetitive recruitment workflows while keeping human oversight for critical touchpoints, Alleviate Health ensures that patients receive timely, personalized communication while site teams can operate more efficiently. This dual approach not only improves the overall patient experience but also maximizes enrollment rates, helping trials reach milestones faster.

Investment and Strategic Backing

The $4.3 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz underscores investor confidence in Alleviate Health’s ability to address a critical gap in clinical trial operations. Jay Rughani, Investing Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, highlighted the strategic importance of the platform: “As research teams on the ground drive trials forward, clinical sites require modern tools that turn patient interest into actual enrollment. Alleviate provides immense leverage by streamlining operations and enhancing the patient experience. It’s the kind of solution that can truly transform how clinical trials are executed.”

Additional investors include leaders with deep experience in healthcare and technology innovation. Jack Altman (Alt Capital), Ali Rowghani (First Harmonic), and other prominent backers recognize the value of a platform that combines AI automation with human judgment to solve one of the most persistent pain points in clinical research.

A Scalable Solution for the Future

Alleviate Health’s platform demonstrates how AI can complement human expertise rather than replace it. By automating the time-consuming and repetitive aspects of patient recruitment, research sites can focus on high-touch interactions that are critical for building trust with patients. This approach not only improves operational efficiency but also ensures that patients are engaged meaningfully throughout the recruitment process.

The system’s ability to capture and centralize patient interactions in a clinical-research-specific CRM also enables sites to continuously refine recruitment strategies. By analyzing historical interactions and outcomes, sites can identify patterns, optimize outreach, and improve conversion rates for future trials. This creates a feedback loop that strengthens recruitment efficiency over time.

“With the increasing complexity of clinical trials and the growing demand for patient participation, research sites need tools that are built specifically for their workflows,” said Boompelli. “Alleviate Health is designed to meet this need by combining AI-driven automation with human oversight, giving sites the ability to scale recruitment without compromising on patient experience.”
