Kopin Launches SXGA-R15 Microdisplay for 3D Automated Optical Inspection

Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN), a leading provider of optical systems and high-performance microdisplays for various sectors, has unveiled its next-generation drive board, the “R15,” for the SXGA FLCoS microdisplay. The new SXGA-R15 is tailored for 3D Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems. It offers a more compact design and an updated software interface, all at a lower cost than comparable products.

According to Zion Market Research, the 3D Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems market is expected to expand from $700 million a few years ago to $3 billion by 2030. The increasing adoption of 3D AOI systems in advanced electronics manufacturing is driven by their ability to swiftly and precisely identify defects that might be overlooked by human inspectors, leading to enhanced quality and substantial time and cost savings. Kopin anticipates continued growth in demand for high-quality manufacturing of complex circuit boards and similar precision electronic and mechanical products.

Kopin, with decades of expertise in developing optical solutions for the 3D AOI market, is poised to capitalize on this growth with its new SXGA-R15 product. The company is already seeing considerable interest from potential customers in Asia.

“Kopin’s commitment to innovation drives us to design and produce exceptional products that resonate with customers,” said Greg Truman, Vice President of Business Development for Europe and Asia. “The SXGA-R15 features a novel design that is 25% smaller than existing products, offering reduced complexity and cost. Its compact size and affordability are key advantages, expanding its potential applications and customer base.”
