Partnering with state public safety agencies, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), and the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) Ambulance Strike Team, CMTS will provide primary EMS support to its 9-1-1 partners, including Brookline, Newton, and Wellesley. With over 100 personnel stationed along the 26.2-mile marathon route in the greater Boston area, CMTS ensures comprehensive coverage for the event.
“We are excited to once again partner with the Boston Athletic Association for the Boston Marathon this year, and our extensive preparations ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, spectators, and community members,” said Alex Theoharidis, Founder and CEO of Coastal Medical Transportation Systems. “As one of the largest ambulance networks in Massachusetts, we are well-equipped to handle a deployment of this scale. CMTS is honored to contribute to such a historic international event.”
On race day, CMTS will deploy 38 ambulances, bike teams, mobile medical teams on Gators, tactical EMS, communication personnel, and command staff. In addition to providing primary EMS support to Brookline, Newton, and Wellesley, CMTS will support the BAA Medical tents in Natick, Wellesley, and Newton.
Chris Troyanos, Medical Coordinator for the Boston Athletic Association, emphasized the importance of comprehensive planning for the safety of participants and spectators. “Over the past three months, the Boston Athletic Association has collaborated closely with Coastal Medical Transportation Systems to ensure adequate EMS resources are in place. We are fully prepared for race day.”
