Vimian Group Announces Management Team Change and Appoints New Head of M&A

Vimian Group Appoints Andrea Tidholm as Head of M&A as Martin Bengtson Steps Down

Vimian Group AB (publ), a global company focused on improving animal health, has announced a change to its management team with the appointment of Andrea Tidholm as the company’s new Head of M&A. Tidholm will assume the role effective 5 October and will report directly to Vimian Group Chief Financial Officer Carl-Johan Zetterberg Boudrie.

The appointment marks an important step in ensuring continuity in Vimian Group’s mergers and acquisitions activities as the company continues to pursue opportunities across the animal health sector. Tidholm brings two decades of mergers and acquisitions experience spanning multiple industries and has been part of Vimian since 2022. In her current role as M&A Director for Vimian’s Veterinary Services segment, she has developed extensive knowledge of the company, its operations and the broader animal health market.

At the same time, Martin Bengtson, Vimian’s current Head of M&A and a member of the Vimian Group management team, has decided to leave his position and pursue new opportunities outside the company. Bengtson will remain with Vimian until the end of the year to support a smooth transition.

Andrea Tidholm to Lead Vimian’s M&A Activities

Andrea Tidholm, 45, brings approximately 20 years of M&A experience to her new position. Her career has included transaction and M&A responsibilities across various industries, giving her broad experience in identifying, evaluating and executing strategic acquisition opportunities.

Tidholm joined Vimian Group in 2022 and currently serves as M&A Director for the company’s Veterinary Services segment. During her time at Vimian, she has gained direct experience within the animal health industry while working closely with businesses and management teams involved in the company’s acquisition activities.

Her combination of transaction expertise and knowledge of Vimian’s business is expected to support the company’s continued M&A strategy. Vimian has built an active acquisition pipeline focused on companies and entrepreneurs within animal health, making experience in both M&A execution and the sector particularly relevant to the new role.

Tidholm holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the Stockholm School of Economics, providing an academic foundation in finance alongside her extensive professional experience.

Commenting on the appointment, Alireza Tajbakhsh, CEO of Vimian Group, said the company was pleased to appoint Tidholm as its new Head of M&A. He highlighted her significant M&A background, including experience in animal health and other industries, as well as her understanding of Vimian and her contribution as a senior member of the organization.

“We are pleased to appoint Andrea Tidholm new Head of M&A, ensuring continuity and speed in the execution of our active pipeline. Andrea has significant M&A experience from animal health as well as from other industries, and is since several years a highly valued senior team member with strong business acumen and drive,” Tajbakhsh said.

The appointment is intended to provide continuity for Vimian’s M&A activities while allowing the company to maintain momentum across its active pipeline. With Tidholm already working within the organization and having direct experience of the Veterinary Services segment, the transition can build on existing knowledge and relationships.

Vimian’s Acquisition Strategy

Mergers and acquisitions have played a significant role in Vimian Group’s development. The company has pursued acquisitions as a means of expanding its presence within animal health and strengthening its portfolio of businesses serving veterinary professionals, animal owners and other stakeholders.

Under Martin Bengtson’s leadership as Head of M&A, Vimian completed 46 acquisitions over a period of five and a half years. According to the company, those acquisitions added more than EUR 170 million in revenues and contributed to the development of an active pipeline of companies and entrepreneurs in animal health.

The scale of this acquisition activity highlights the importance of the Head of M&A position within Vimian’s management structure. The role involves supporting the identification and evaluation of potential acquisition targets while helping to advance transactions that align with the company’s broader strategic objectives.

As Vimian continues to evaluate potential opportunities, Tidholm will take responsibility for leading these M&A activities. Her existing experience within Vimian is expected to help maintain the pace of the company’s transaction work while preserving institutional knowledge developed during recent years.

The company’s focus on animal health also provides a clear strategic framework for its acquisition activities. By seeking companies operating within the sector, Vimian can continue to build on its existing capabilities and relationships while expanding its presence through additional businesses.

Martin Bengtson to Leave After Five and a Half Years

The management change also marks the conclusion of Martin Bengtson’s tenure as Vimian’s Head of M&A. Bengtson has served in the position for five and a half years and has been a member of the Vimian Group management team during that period.

During his tenure, Vimian completed 46 acquisitions, with the acquired businesses contributing more than EUR 170 million in revenues. Bengtson also played a role in developing what the company describes as a highly active pipeline of successful companies and entrepreneurs in the animal health sector.

Tajbakhsh expressed his appreciation for Bengtson’s contribution to the company and the results achieved during his time at Vimian.

“I would like to sincerely thank Martin Bengtson for his significant achievements over the past five and a half years. During his tenure, we have completed 46 acquisitions, adding more than EUR 170 million in revenues, and developed a highly active pipeline of successful companies and entrepreneurs in animal health,” Tajbakhsh said.

Bengtson will remain with Vimian until year-end. His continued presence during the transition period is expected to support the handover of responsibilities and knowledge to Tidholm before he leaves the company to pursue new opportunities.

The transition also provides Vimian with an opportunity to maintain continuity in its acquisition strategy while introducing new leadership to the M&A function.

Continuity at a Key Stage of Growth

For companies pursuing an active acquisition strategy, continuity within the M&A function can be important to maintaining transaction momentum. Potential acquisitions typically require significant evaluation, financial analysis, negotiations and coordination between management teams. Existing knowledge of the acquisition pipeline and relationships with potential targets can therefore be valuable when leadership changes occur.

Tidholm’s existing role within Vimian means she is already familiar with the company’s organization and business environment. Her responsibilities as M&A Director for the Veterinary Services segment have also given her direct exposure to transactions and business development within animal health.

Her 20 years of M&A experience provide an additional foundation for her new responsibilities. The combination of industry knowledge, internal experience and transaction expertise positions her to take over the M&A leadership role while Vimian continues working on its active pipeline.

The company’s decision to appoint an existing senior team member also supports a relatively direct transition. Rather than bringing in an external executive unfamiliar with Vimian’s operations, the company will place responsibility for the broader M&A function with an executive who has already been working within its transaction organization.

Management Team to Consist of Eight Members

Following the management changes, Vimian Group’s management team will consist of eight members.

Tidholm’s appointment will strengthen the company’s senior leadership structure by bringing the M&A function under her leadership while she continues the work of developing and executing acquisition opportunities. Her reporting line to CFO Carl-Johan Zetterberg Boudrie places the M&A function within the company’s broader financial and strategic management framework.

The change also reflects the evolving responsibilities of Vimian’s management team as the company continues to develop its business through organic operations and acquisitions.

While Bengtson’s departure represents a change in leadership, Vimian’s announcement emphasizes continuity in the company’s M&A activities. Tidholm’s previous experience within Vimian and her extensive professional background are expected to help the company maintain the pace of its acquisition strategy.

Continued Focus on Animal Health

The leadership transition comes as Vimian continues to focus on opportunities within the animal health industry. The company has built its growth strategy around businesses and entrepreneurs in the sector, with acquisitions representing an important component of its development.

The 46 acquisitions completed during Bengtson’s five-and-a-half-year tenure demonstrate the scale of Vimian’s M&A activity. The addition of more than EUR 170 million in revenues through those transactions illustrates the contribution that acquisitions have made to the company’s business expansion.

With Tidholm moving from her position as M&A Director for Veterinary Services into the broader Head of M&A role, Vimian will continue to have dedicated senior leadership for its acquisition program.

Her experience across several industries also gives her a broad perspective on M&A, while her time at Vimian has allowed her to build knowledge specifically within animal health. This combination is expected to support the company as it assesses future acquisition opportunities.

Smooth Transition Ahead

Martin Bengtson’s decision to remain with Vimian until the end of the year provides a transition period following the appointment of Tidholm. This arrangement is intended to facilitate an orderly handover of responsibilities and ensure that ongoing M&A activities can continue without unnecessary disruption.

For Vimian, the transition allows the company to retain access to Bengtson’s knowledge of the existing pipeline while Tidholm assumes her new responsibilities. It also gives the incoming Head of M&A an opportunity to build on the work already completed and continue developing relationships with potential acquisition targets.

The appointment becomes effective on 5 October, after which Tidholm will formally take responsibility for the Head of M&A position and report to CFO Carl-Johan Zetterberg Boudrie.

Vimian’s management structure will subsequently consist of eight members, with Tidholm joining the leadership team in her new capacity.

Overall, the change represents a planned leadership transition within one of Vimian Group’s key strategic functions. With an experienced M&A professional taking over from a long-serving executive, the company is seeking to combine continuity with fresh leadership as it continues to pursue opportunities in animal health.

The company’s existing acquisition pipeline, its history of completing transactions and its focus on successful animal health companies and entrepreneurs will remain important elements of its M&A strategy. Tidholm’s appointment is designed to ensure that this work continues with momentum while preserving the knowledge and experience built within Vimian over recent years.
