Universal Health Services Named Top Employer by American Opportunity Index

Universal Health Services (NYSE: UHS) has been named one of the Top 100 Employers of Choice in the 2024 American Opportunity Index, which evaluates how effectively companies develop talent and enhance employee careers. UHS ranks #1 in the ‘Medical Care Facilities’ sector and #56 overall.

The American Opportunity Index stands out as the only assessment of employer quality based on the actual career trajectories of over 5 million employees at 395 major companies, rather than self-reported data or surveys. It evaluates how well firms promote, hire, retain, and compensate their workforce over a five-year span.

Marc D. Miller, President & CEO of UHS, stated, “UHS is dedicated to being a trusted healthcare provider and respectful employer. Our 96,700 employees deliver patient-centered care with excellence, and we are committed to supporting their career growth.”

This index is a collaboration between the Burning Glass Institute, Harvard Business School’s Managing the Future of Work Project, and the Schultz Family Foundation. It emphasizes that when employers unlock the potential of their employees, both individuals and companies benefit.
