Kansas residents eligible for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) will continue to benefit from UnitedHealthcare’s comprehensive care, preventive health, and wellness programs.
The State of Kansas has selected UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas as one of three managed care organizations to administer KanCare, the statewide Medicaid and CHIP program, effective January 1, 2025.
UnitedHealthcare, which has been serving KanCare beneficiaries, will maintain its collaboration with the state, providers, and community-based organizations to enhance access to care and address social determinants of health. The overarching aim is to support KanCare members in achieving health, wellness, and independence for a healthier Kansas.
“We are honored to continue our work with the state to build a program that provides high-quality, equitable care,” said Kevin Sparks, Chief Executive Officer, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas. “We will continue to leverage data, deploy innovative initiatives, and expand capacity for our partners through community investments to increase access to care and reduce health disparities throughout the state.”
With over 10 years of experience serving KanCare members, UnitedHealthcare, alongside its parent company UnitedHealth Group, employs more than 2,100 people in Kansas. The organization collaborates with local organizations and nonprofits to improve access to essential healthcare and community resources that promote healthier lives.
In the past 18 months, UnitedHealthcare has invested more than $1.5 million in grants to community-based organizations for programs aimed at raising standards of care, improving health outcomes, and assisting the most underserved communities, including those in rural and frontier areas of the state.
UnitedHealthcare currently serves over 570,000 people in Kansas enrolled in employer-sponsored, individual, Medicare, and Medicaid benefit plans, with a network of 150 hospitals and over 22,000 physicians and other care providers statewide.
