Two-Year Data Shows Vista Cardiac Offers Faster, More Reliable MRI Scans

Vista, a leader in intelligent MRI acquisition software, has announced two-year clinical results demonstrating that Vista Cardiac enhances workflow efficiency, delivers high-quality and consistent imaging, and helps scale cardiac MRI (CMR) programs, increasing patient access.

Dr. Raymond Kwong, Director of Cardiac MRI at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, shared significant clinical results at this year’s Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference in Chicago. Over the past 26 months, Vista Cardiac has led to remarkable improvements, including:

  • A 26% faster scan time with enhanced image quality and consistency across all technologists
  • A 50% reduction in scan time variability, enabling shorter scheduling blocks
  • A dramatic reduction in the backlog, from 28 days to just one day for CMR access
  • A 50% increase in scan slots, facilitating 900 additional scans without additional machines or personnel

“Vista Cardiac is essential for enhancing consistency and productivity in cardiac MRI studies, no matter the technologist’s experience level,” Dr. Kwong remarked. “We plan to extend this technology to our satellite hospitals to offer more patients access to the highest-quality cardiac care imaging.”

Cardiac MRI (CMR) is the gold standard for diagnosing major cardiovascular conditions such as myocardial diseases, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and valvular diseases. However, only 2% of all U.S. MRI scanners are used for CMR due to complex workflows, unpredictable scan durations, and a shortage of trained technologists.

Vista Cardiac addresses these challenges with its FDA-cleared image acquisition software, which automates and simplifies CMR scans. This software enables any technologist to produce high-quality, consistent scans quickly. Unlike traditional CMR software, Vista Cardiac automates tasks that typically take time and effort, completing a full exam in just 12 minutes—much faster than the 35-45 minutes required by conventional systems or the 20-25 minutes typically needed for an echocardiogram. Vista’s key automation features include:

  • Scan planning and localization in 30 seconds
  • Parameter tuning to ensure optimal settings from the start
  • Real-time motion and artifact detection for immediate re-scans
  • In-line analysis while the patient is still in the scanner

Vista Cardiac is the only third-party software cleared to control MRI systems for image acquisition and reconstruction. It integrates seamlessly into the hospital network, providing a secure and intuitive experience that ensures a rapid transition to full operational status in just a few days.

“We are thrilled by the positive results from Brigham and Women’s Hospital validating our solution,” said Daniel Hawkins, CEO of Vista. “Vista is pushing MRI technology forward, helping providers handle increasing patient volumes while maintaining high-quality standards and expanding access to advanced cardiac care. CMR has long been underutilized despite its clinical value, often limited by obstacles that Vista’s solution removes. We’re excited to unlock its full potential as the go-to modality for managing cardiac patients.”

Vista Cardiac is available for sale in the U.S. and is being deployed across leading hospitals. The company is expanding its AI-driven MRI technology to include brain, prostate, and other anatomical areas, broadening its capabilities across specialties.
