Trilliant Health, a top analytics firm in the healthcare sector, has introduced a free version of its Provider Directory application. This user-friendly tool offers a centralized source for precise and up-to-date information on millions of healthcare providers and is now available to the public at no charge.
Accurate provider directory information is crucial for patient access, care coordination, network comparison, data exchange, and price transparency. However, existing datasets often fall short. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), current provider directories frequently have inaccuracies, lack interoperability, and contribute to high costs in the healthcare industry. A recent report revealed that the NPPES National Provider Identifier (NPI) registry only matched 28% of provider names, addresses, and specialties with health plan directories.
Hal Andrews, CEO of Trilliant Health, emphasized the importance of a reliable provider directory, stating, “The Federal government has long advocated for a centralized source of truth for healthcare provider data. Like CMS, we see an accurate directory as essential for many key initiatives, especially interoperability. However, we believe that stakeholders and consumers cannot afford to wait any longer for accurate provider information.”
Andrews added, “A significant portion of waste in the American healthcare system is administrative. To address this, companies must stop charging for information that should be freely available. We are proud to offer our national provider directory at no cost, making vital information about healthcare providers accessible to everyone.”
Trilliant Health’s national Provider Directory is a web-based application featuring 2.9 million provider profiles across the U.S. The directory uses advanced machine learning models to update and correct data commonly found in the NPPES and other directories. Each profile includes details about patient panels, practice locations, specialties, affiliations, and financial relationships as reported in the Open Payments dataset.
