Superior HealthPlan Named Best Place for Working Parents® in Texas
Superior HealthPlan, a prominent managed care organization in Texas and a subsidiary of Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), has been named a Best Place for Working Parents® for the fifth consecutive year. This prestigious designation is awarded by Early Matters Greater Austin, a collaboration between United Way for Greater Austin and E3 Alliance, and reflects the company’s continued commitment to supporting its employees, particularly working parents.
“We are proud to receive this recognition for the fifth year in a row. Supporting working parents through family-friendly policies and benefits is a priority for Superior HealthPlan,” said Mark Sanders, president and CEO of Superior HealthPlan. “This designation underscores our ongoing efforts to create a work environment where employees can thrive both personally and professionally. I believe this approach not only supports our team members but also helps us deliver high-quality healthcare to the nearly two million people we serve across Texas.”
Superior HealthPlan first earned recognition as a Family-Friendly Workplace in 2019, and has continued to expand its benefits and policies to further support working parents. The company’s dedication to this cause is evident in the additional resources introduced in recent years.

One of the key initiatives introduced in 2023 is the Parental & Caregiver Leave benefit. This expanded program provides employees who give birth up to 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave. Additionally, employees can take up to six weeks of paid leave to care for a child, spouse, domestic partner, or parent. This generous benefit is a testament to Superior’s commitment to supporting employees during significant life events.
Workplace flexibility has also been a major focus for Superior. Since March 2020, the company has embraced remote and hybrid work options, allowing employees to work from home or in the field, depending on their role. As a result, over 90% of Superior’s employees currently work remotely or have flexible fieldwork arrangements. This shift has proven to be beneficial, offering employees the flexibility to balance work and personal commitments more effectively.
Superior HealthPlan has also introduced an Adoption-Surrogacy Reimbursement Program, which provides full-time employees with reimbursement of up to $7,500 per child for qualified adoption or surrogacy expenses. Employees are eligible for up to three adoptions per family, further supporting the diverse family structures among the workforce.
Recognizing the importance of giving back to the community, Superior offers its employees Volunteering Opportunities. Full-time employees receive eight hours of paid time off (PTO) each year to volunteer for company-designated community impact events during normal work hours. Employees can also use PTO to volunteer in the event of a medically declared state of emergency, such as during a pandemic or natural disaster. This initiative aligns with Superior’s ongoing commitment to community involvement throughout Texas.
The company also prioritizes the well-being of its employees through various Healthy Programs. Superior, in collaboration with Centene, offers benefits aimed at promoting physical health and wellness, including programs that assist with managing chronic conditions like diabetes and joint pain. Additionally, employees are rewarded for participating in health-promoting activities, encouraging a culture of wellness within the workplace.
Superior’s commitment to creating a family-friendly, flexible, and supportive work environment has had a positive impact on both its employees and the communities it serves. The company’s ongoing focus on work-life balance and employee well-being ensures that it remains a top choice for working parents in Texas.
