Stacy Giles Appointed Chief Operating Officer of Greater Boston Urology, Building on Legacy of Growth and Innovation
Greater Boston Urology (GBU), the largest urology group practice in Massachusetts and an affiliate of U.S. Urology Partners, has announced the appointment of Stacy A. Giles, MBA, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Giles, a highly experienced healthcare executive with more than 25 years in administration and oncology leadership, succeeds Les Cavicchi, MPA, NHA, who is retiring after more than a decade of service that helped shape and sustain the practice’s strong growth trajectory.
This leadership transition marks a pivotal moment for GBU, as the organization continues to expand its footprint and service offerings across Massachusetts while maintaining its reputation as a premier provider of comprehensive urological care.
A Legacy of Growth and Leadership
Since its founding, Greater Boston Urology has become a market leader in providing accessible, high-quality urologic services. With nine urology care centers and one interventional radiology (IR) center—and a second IR center scheduled to open in November—the practice delivers a robust mix of general and specialized care. From men’s and women’s health services to advanced oncology treatments, GBU has consistently invested in infrastructure and clinical excellence to meet the evolving needs of patients and referring physicians across the state.
Outgoing COO Les Cavicchi played a central role in this growth. Over his 12-year tenure, Cavicchi helped GBU expand its reach and capabilities, positioning the organization as the largest urology group in Massachusetts. His leadership also contributed to strengthening GBU’s affiliation with U.S. Urology Partners, which provides operational and strategic support to leading community-based practices nationwide.
Reflecting on Cavicchi’s contributions, Mandy Lawrence, COO of U.S. Urology Partners, remarked:
We are pleased to welcome Stacy Giles to the Greater Boston Urology team and to express our appreciation for the many contributions of Les Cavicchi. We appreciate the commitment both have to Greater Boston Urology in providing world-class care that puts patients first. Greater Boston Urology is nationally recognized for its specialized urology services and urologic oncology care and will continue to grow across its multi-site clinical network, bringing the highest level of care and patient service to the community.
Introducing Stacy Giles: A Seasoned Healthcare Executive
The appointment of Stacy Giles signals a new era of leadership at GBU. With a career spanning more than two decades, Giles is known for her ability to drive strategic growth, streamline operations, and lead organizational transformation across complex healthcare environments.
Giles began her career in oncology, where she worked directly with patients and research teams in medical oncology and oncology research. This early experience gave her a clinical grounding that continues to inform her leadership approach today. Over the years, she has advanced into senior executive roles, consistently delivering measurable results in financial performance, patient outcomes, and service line development.
Most recently, Giles served as Executive Director of the Cancer Institute at TidalHealth, overseeing a wide-ranging portfolio of inpatient and outpatient services across Maryland and Delaware. Her work included the management of multi-location cancer programs and leadership of large interdisciplinary teams, where she focused on expanding access, improving care coordination, and enhancing patient satisfaction.
Earlier in her career, Giles held leadership positions at UNC Health, where she served as Associate Vice President in the Department of Medicine. At UNC, she directed operations for more than 600 full-time employees across eight service lines, including Oncology, Digestive Health, Palliative Care, and Psychiatry, managing operations at 14 locations. Her work at UNC centered on integrating service lines, optimizing resource use, and building high-performing clinical teams.
Giles earned both her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a leadership emphasis from Franklin University.
A Vision for Continued Growth
In her new role at GBU, Giles will be tasked with building on the foundation established by her predecessor, while also advancing the organization’s ambitious growth strategy.
Jonathan S. Brajtbord, M.D., Chair of the Physician Clinical Council of GBU, emphasized the importance of this leadership transition, saying:
I am extremely excited to welcome Stacy Giles to our organization. She takes over for Les Cavicchi, who helped build and sustain Greater Boston Urology’s growth in the state as a leader in private practice urology. Stacy’s experience in healthcare operations and integration will be paramount to our vision of continued growth and providing our patients with the latest technology and urological services in the community. We are thrilled to have her at Greater Boston Urology.
For Giles, the move represents both a professional and personal milestone. In her first comments as COO, she expressed deep admiration for GBU’s patient-first culture and its long-standing commitment to excellence:
I am honored to join Greater Boston Urology, which is well-known for its culture of innovation and excellence, and the integrated care its nationally recognized team provides. What impresses me the most about Greater Boston Urology is its patient focus and commitment to providing a seamless patient experience through convenient locations providing specialized treatments with the utmost care and compassion. I look forward to building on Greater Boston Urology’s success to continue enhancing services that meet the needs of the community.
Comprehensive Services for a Diverse Patient Base
One of the cornerstones of GBU’s success has been its ability to offer comprehensive, in-house services that address the full continuum of urological care. Patients benefit from access to a urology-specific laboratory, pathology services, imaging, interventional radiology, surgical expertise, and clinical research—all under one coordinated system.
The practice provides care for conditions ranging from general urology and preventive screenings to highly specialized treatments for prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers, as well as men’s health, women’s health, and urogynecology. This comprehensive approach not only improves outcomes but also streamlines the patient journey, reducing the need for fragmented or out-of-state referrals.
As Giles noted:
Greater Boston Urology serves patients throughout the region for issues spanning from general urology, men’s health, women’s health and urogynecology, to advanced treatments for prostate, bladder, kidney and other urological cancers. Patients and referring physicians appreciate Greater Boston Urology’s comprehensive in-house services. Greater Boston Urology will continue to be a trusted expert and partner, remaining on the forefront of urological care.
