ŌURA Acquires Veri to Enhance Metabolic Health Capabilities

ŌURA, the company behind the Oura Ring, has announced its acquisition of Veri, a Finnish firm specializing in personalized metabolic health. Veri, which partners with Oura to offer metabolic insights through continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), will see a significant portion of its team, including its founders, join ŌURA.

“Expanding into metabolic health is the next logical step for us,” said Tom Hale, CEO of ŌURA. “We started with a focus on sleep and have progressively broadened our scope to include key health areas such as activity, cardiovascular health, stress, and women’s health. Veri’s expertise in metabolic health will enhance our holistic health approach and help us offer even more valuable insights to our members.”

ŌURA’s members have shown a strong interest in understanding how their diet affects their health, with 97% expressing curiosity about the impact of food on their well-being. A recent survey revealed that while 13% of members have used a CGM, 53% are interested in trying one in the next year.

Anttoni Aniebonam, CEO and co-founder of Veri, commented, “We share ŌURA’s vision of helping people gain deeper insights into their health. Joining forces with ŌURA will allow us to accelerate our impact and provide more comprehensive health guidance. We’re excited to explore how our metabolic health expertise can enrich the Oura experience.”

ŌURA plans to integrate metabolic health features into its platform, starting with a new “Meals” feature in the Oura App this fall. This feature will help users track meal timing and its effects on metrics like sleep and stress.

The acquisition aligns with ŌURA’s recent growth, including surpassing 2.5 million rings sold and expanding its global retail and commercial presence. Veri customers will continue to be supported until the end of 2024. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.
