MiSalud Health Appoints Co-Founder Bismarck Lepe as CEO

MiSalud Health, a prominent digital health platform providing affordable, same-day bilingual (Spanish/English) telehealth consultations in both the United States and Mexico, has named co-founder Bismarck Lepe as the company’s new CEO. Cindy Blanco, who previously held the position, will step down to focus on leading economic development for the state of Jalisco in Mexico. However, she will continue to serve on MiSalud Health’s Board of Directors. Additionally, MiSalud Health announced that Samsung Next has joined in a recent $8 million funding round to support the company’s growth and innovation.

MiSalud Health is dedicated to addressing the unique healthcare needs of the Hispanic population, particularly those who prefer to communicate in Spanish. With the U.S. healthcare system struggling to effectively serve this rapidly growing demographic, which is on track to become the majority in the near future, MiSalud is working to close critical healthcare access gaps for Hispanics, especially those living in underserved areas.

“We’ve focused on sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality, and logistics, working with governments and employers to ensure Hispanic populations have access to culturally relevant health services,” said Bismarck Lepe, CEO of MiSalud Health. “Our mission is to help these communities stay healthy, prevent disease progression, and reduce unnecessary emergency room visits. This not only improves health outcomes but also reduces healthcare costs and alleviates pressure on an overburdened system.”

Lepe, a serial entrepreneur with experience founding Wizeline, a leading nearshore digital services provider, has applied his expertise to build MiSalud Health’s scalable, high-quality telehealth platform. By leveraging nearshore healthcare professionals, MiSalud is able to increase healthcare access in a way that meets the cultural and language needs of Hispanic communities across the U.S. and Mexico.

Looking ahead, MiSalud plans to expand its reach to serve over 1 million people in the next two years. The company recently secured an $8 million funding round, led by Samsung Next, and joined by Ulu Ventures, Magnify Ventures, and LowerCase Capital. Samsung Next, a global innovation group, has been instrumental in supporting MiSalud’s mission. Notably, over 25% of MiSalud’s members access its platform using Samsung devices.

“Bismarck’s experience in building and scaling companies like Ooyala and Wizeline uniquely positions him to drive MiSalud’s mission forward,” said Carlos Castellanos of Samsung Next. “MiSalud is not just a healthcare platform; it’s a vital bridge to equity for millions of Latinos. We are proud to support their work and look forward to the lasting impact they will make.”

MiSalud Health’s platform provides affordable, same-day bilingual (Spanish/English) telehealth consultations for both physical and mental health services in the U.S. and Mexico. It caters to employees in industries like agriculture, construction, hospitality, oil and gas, food service, and other essential sectors. By focusing on these sectors, MiSalud delivers healthcare services that are culturally relevant and accessible to Latino employees and their dependents, even those in remote or underserved regions.

The company’s approach to employee engagement has been proven effective, with a strong emphasis on culturally tailored care providers and personalized onboarding. This strategy has led to significantly better health outcomes, demonstrating the value of MiSalud’s unique approach in meeting the needs of hard-to-reach Latino employees.

MiSalud Health is committed to improving healthcare access, outcomes, and equity for the Hispanic population, providing a crucial lifeline to individuals who have historically faced barriers to care. With continued support from investors like Samsung Next, the company is well-positioned to expand its impact and serve even more individuals in the coming years.
