MHS Health Wisconsin (MHS Health) will host a Green to Go Mobile Produce Pantry and Health Fair on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Warner Park Rainbow Pavilion, located at 2930 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison, WI 53704.
In collaboration with Hy-Vee grocers, MHS Health will provide free fresh fruits and vegetables to attendees, while supplies last. Available produce will include a variety of items such as apples, bananas, potatoes, bell peppers, and plantains.
“As food prices rise and economic challenges persist, access to fresh, healthy foods has become increasingly difficult for many families,” said Susan Miller, Senior Manager of Community Advocacy at MHS Health Wisconsin. “MHS Health acknowledges that food insecurity is a pressing issue, and we are committed to helping bridge that gap. By hosting this free mobile produce pantry and health resource fair, we aim to provide support and resources that enhance the well-being of our community. Everyone deserves access to nutritious food and healthcare, and we are proud to contribute to a stronger, healthier Wisconsin.”
A Hy-Vee dietitian will be present to meet with families, share healthy recipes, and offer a tasty chip snack made from plantains.
Additional resources at the event will include reusable grocery bags, children’s books, and coloring books from MHS Health Wisconsin, along with health information from Public Health Madison and Dane County. Volunteers from La Follette High School’s Black Student Union will assist attendees in carrying produce to their vehicles.
The Green to Go Mobile Produce Pantry and Health Fair is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Warner Park Rainbow Pavilion, located at 2930 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison, WI 53704. No reservations are needed; produce and giveaways will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
