HCA Healthcare, one of the nation’s leading healthcare providers, has been named a Best for Vets Employer by Military Times for the fifth consecutive year, in recognition of its ongoing efforts to recruit, mentor, and retain U.S. service members. Since 2012, the company has hired more than 65,000 veterans, active-duty and reserve personnel, and military spouses.
In addition to this recognition, HCA Healthcare has been named a Military Friendly and Military Spouse Friendly employer by VIQTORY for 14 consecutive years, earning the Gold distinction for the second year in a row. The company has also been recognized for its Supplier Diversity Program and its work as a Military Friendly Brand and Company.
Commitment to Veterans and Military Families
HCA Healthcare’s dedication to supporting veterans extends beyond hiring practices. This year, the company is contributing significant donations to veteran-focused organizations, including:
- $50,000 to the Armed Services YMCA to enhance the “Children’s Waiting Room” at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital.
- $35,000 to CreatiVets, which helps veterans and their families heal from service-related trauma through creative arts, including songwriting and visual arts.
- $35,000 to The Honor Foundation, a career transition program for U.S. Special Operations Forces, to support their industry “trek” experiences across the country.
- $30,000 to Operation Stand Down, to expand their “Career Recon” employment program for transitioning service members.
“We are honored to be recognized again for our efforts to create a supportive work environment for veterans,” said Sherri Neal Crowley, Chief Diversity Officer at HCA Healthcare. “Veterans bring invaluable skills to our workforce, and we are committed to ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to thrive in their civilian careers.”
Veteran Support and Workforce Integration
HCA Healthcare has a long history of supporting veterans and military families, dating back to its participation in the Veteran Jobs Mission in 2011 and the Department of Defense’s Military Spouse Employment Partnership in 2012. In 2015, the company received the Lee Anderson Award for excellence in hiring and retaining veterans, and in 2021, it received the prestigious Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
The company also maintains a Veterans Colleague Network to foster community among its veteran employees and to support them as they transition into civilian careers. HCA Healthcare provides military leave and supplemental pay for colleagues serving on active duty and offers specialized education and training opportunities for veterans in healthcare careers.
