GE HealthCare Unveils AI-Driven Solutions for Precision Care at RSNA 2024

At the 2024 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting, held from Dec. 1-4 in Chicago, GE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC) will showcase over 40 innovations, featuring several advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled technologies designed to enhance patient care and improve operational efficiencies.

These solutions align with the company’s broader AI and digital strategy, which integrates AI into medical devices, builds applications that support decision-making across care pathways, and improves outcomes.

Radiologists face increasing challenges, with over half of 8,000 surveyed radiology professionals reporting emotional exhaustion and 57% feeling underappreciated. Peter Arduini, CEO of GE HealthCare, acknowledged these difficulties, stating, “Radiologists are under extraordinary pressure, and GE HealthCare is committed to addressing their concerns. Our AI-driven solutions at the device, care pathway, and enterprise levels help clinicians deliver more precise, personalized care from diagnosis to recovery.”

Workflow Efficiency Innovations

GE HealthCare is presenting AI-enabled products designed to simplify workflows and enhance efficiency, ultimately improving patient care and clinical outcomes. Notable solutions include:

  • Clarify DL (510(k) pending) is an AI-powered bone image reconstruction algorithm aimed at enhancing the quality of bone SPECT images, boosting diagnostic confidence.
  • nCommand Lite by IONIC Health enables remote collaboration for radiology staff, supporting MR, CT, and PET/CT scanning to improve workflow and patient care.
  • True PACS and v7 PACS solution, now integrated with Blackford’s AI orchestration platform, facilitates seamless AI integration into radiologists’ reading workflows, enabling faster and more accurate diagnoses.
  • MR Max 3™ is a wireless, syringeless power injector designed to optimize contrast usage, reduce waste, and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Caption Guidance™ is an AI-driven ultrasound technology that offers real-time, step-by-step guidance to ensure high-quality cardiac ultrasound images.
  • Venue Sprint™ and Vscan Air SL are portable ultrasound solutions with advanced capabilities, including Caption AI to automatically calculate key heart function metrics.

Personalized and Precise Care

GE HealthCare aims to support personalized care pathways for patients, particularly in oncology. The company will showcase new oncology technologies that combine AI, digital solutions, and imaging technologies to enhance diagnoses and improve patient outcomes. Key products include:

  • Aurora (510(k) pending), a new dual-head SPECT/CT system that integrates deep learning and advanced CT solutions to support personalized cancer care.
  • Senographe Pristina Via, an advanced mammography system designed to improve workflow and image acquisition.
  • CareIntellect for Oncology, a cloud-based AI application that consolidates patient data from various sources to help clinicians track disease progression and make informed decisions. This application is expected to be available in 2025 and will initially focus on prostate and breast cancer.
  • Theranostics technologies combine diagnostic imaging with targeted therapies for personalized treatment, with products like the MINItrace Magni cyclotron and Omni Legend PET/CT system.

GE HealthCare will also demonstrate several other advancements, such as the Versana Premier ultrasound system, True Enhance DL on the Revolution Ascend platform, and the SIGNA™ MAGNUS head-only MRI scanner, designed to push the boundaries of neuroscience research.
