CVS Health Appoints Dr. Sreekanth Chaguturu as President of Health Care Delivery

CVS Health® (NYSE: CVS) has announced that Dr. Sreekanth Chaguturu, currently serving as executive vice president and chief medical officer of CVS Health, will take on an expanded role as president of Health Care Delivery. Dr. Chaguturu succeeds Mike Pykosz, who has decided to leave the company.

David Joyner, president and CEO of CVS Health, expressed his appreciation for Dr. Chaguturu’s leadership, emphasizing their close collaboration when he first joined CVS Health. “Sree and I worked closely together when he started at CVS Health, serving as chief medical officer of CVS Caremark®. In that role, and as the leader of Medical Affairs at our company, Sree has served as a trusted advisor to our clients, their members, and CVS Health colleagues, consistently demonstrating our commitment to patients,” said Joyner. He also thanked Mike Pykosz for his leadership and his role in overseeing a smooth transition.

Dr. Sree Chaguturu has been with CVS Health for several years, where he has been instrumental in shaping the company’s medical affairs organization. He has played a critical role in advancing CVS Health’s mission to improve clinical quality, increase access to care, improve patient outcomes, and reduce overall healthcare costs. Dr. Chaguturu previously served as the chief medical officer of CVS Caremark, where he oversaw clinical operations for the pharmacy benefits manager.

Before joining CVS Health, Dr. Chaguturu was the chief population health officer at Mass General Brigham, the largest healthcare system in Massachusetts. In that role, he led the system’s accountable care organization and developed numerous clinical care delivery and innovation programs. He is also a practicing internal medicine physician at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Chaguturu holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Brown University and a medical degree from Brown University Medical School. He completed his training in internal medicine and primary care at Massachusetts General Hospital.

CVS Health’s recent earnings call highlighted several positive trends within the Health Care Delivery business. Notably, the number of Aetna® members served by Signify Health® has nearly doubled compared to the previous year. This growth has been supported by CVS Health’s ability to use touchpoints across its various services. Additionally, patient growth at Oak Street Health® continues to accelerate, with at-risk membership increasing by 32% from the same quarter last year. The number of Aetna members enrolled at Oak Street has approximately quadrupled since CVS Health’s acquisition of the company.

These milestones underscore CVS Health’s integrated approach to healthcare, bringing together services like Oak Street Health, Signify Health, and MinuteClinic® to offer a comprehensive care experience. “Health Care Delivery connects the dots for the people we care for, as we provide better care in our Oak Street Health clinics, in our pharmacies at MinuteClinic, and at home through Signify Health,” Dr. Chaguturu stated. “We will continue to keep our patients front and center of every decision we make. As we succeed in our work, it means more than 185 million people in our country live better lives. This is what we are capable of at CVS Health when we stay focused on delivering the best care for our friends, family, and neighbors.”

CVS Health’s approach to healthcare aims to connect individuals with care across a variety of settings, improving access and outcomes while lowering costs. With more than 300,000 employees, including over 40,000 physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and nurse practitioners, CVS Health’s broad reach ensures it can address the health needs of communities across the country.
