Community Health Network has announced the appointment of Patrick McGill, MD, as its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 1, 2026. The selection follows a comprehensive national search and a rigorous evaluation process led by the organization’s Board of Directors. Dr. McGill, a board-certified family medicine physician and accomplished healthcare executive, brings over two decades of clinical and administrative experience to the role—making him a uniquely qualified leader to guide Community Health Network into its next chapter of growth, innovation, and community impact.
Dr. McGill currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer at Community Health Network, where he has spearheaded system-wide initiatives in digital transformation, data analytics, population health, personalized medicine, health equity, and value-based care. His deep institutional knowledge, combined with his strategic foresight and unwavering commitment to the organization’s mission, positioned him as the standout candidate among a highly competitive national pool.

He succeeds Bryan Mills, who announced his retirement earlier this year after more than 40 years of dedicated service. Under Mills’ leadership, Community Health Network expanded its footprint, enhanced access to high-quality care, and solidified its reputation as a trusted, community-centered provider across the region. Dr. McGill now steps into this legacy with a clear mandate: to build upon that foundation while accelerating innovation in a rapidly changing healthcare landscape.

A native of Indiana, Dr. McGill’s journey in medicine began with a strong commitment to primary care and community health. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his family medicine residency at Ball Memorial Hospital—a Community Health Network affiliate—laying the groundwork for a career deeply intertwined with the organization’s values. Over the past 20 years, he has held numerous leadership roles within the system, consistently focusing on improving clinical workflows, advancing team-based care models, and driving measurable quality improvements that directly benefit patients.
In addition to his clinical credentials, Dr. McGill holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in data analytics from the University of Southern Indiana and is currently pursuing a doctorate in healthcare administration. This blend of clinical insight and business acumen has enabled him to bridge the gap between bedside care and system-wide strategy—a critical skill in today’s value-based, data-driven healthcare environment.
His leadership as Chief Transformation Officer has been instrumental in modernizing Community Health Network’s infrastructure. Under his guidance, the organization has invested heavily in digital health tools, interoperable data systems, and predictive analytics to better anticipate patient needs and close care gaps. He serves on the boards of the Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE)—one of the nation’s oldest and most successful health information exchanges—and SIHO Insurance Services, where he contributes to statewide efforts to improve data sharing, care coordination, and affordability. His national recognition includes being named by Becker’s Hospital Review as an “Inspiring Chief Transformation Officer” in 2022, 2023, and 2024—an acknowledgment of his forward-thinking leadership and ability to drive systemic change.
