Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), a prominent healthcare enterprise dedicated to improving lives, announced that its subsidiary, Buckeye Health Plan, has been selected by the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) to continue offering services for dually eligible individuals through a Fully Integrated Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (FIDE SNP). This plan integrates care for individuals eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid under a single managed care organization, allowing enrollees to access medical, behavioral, and long-term services through one plan.
Current MyCare Ohio members will not experience any changes at this time, as existing providers will continue to serve them until the transition to the Next Generation MyCare plans in January 2026. At that point, the selected plans will support Ohioans eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid in the 29 counties where MyCare Ohio is available, with plans for statewide expansion following shortly thereafter.
“We are proud to work with ODM to connect Ohio communities with the specialized care they need and deserve,” said Sarah M. London, CEO of Centene. “Through our FIDE SNP program, we will ensure our members receive all the necessary services under one plan, allowing them to focus on their health.”
Buckeye is one of four health plans chosen by ODM to deliver quality healthcare to Medicare-Medicaid eligible members via the new FIDE SNP product. Buckeye’s existing MMP program currently serves over 9,000 members across 12 counties. With the FIDE SNP product under the Next Generation MyCare Ohio Program, Buckeye has the opportunity to expand its reach statewide by 2027. The new contract will enable Buckeye to implement innovative initiatives that address healthcare barriers and enhance care to promote independence.
“As your guide to better health, Buckeye is honored to continue serving dually eligible Ohioans,” said Steve Province, President and CEO of Buckeye Health Plan. “Having supported this population for over a decade, we recognize the importance of providing innovative solutions for those facing complex healthcare challenges and advocating for their well-being. We look forward to our continued partnerships with members, providers, caregivers, and the State of Ohio.”
