Care Access Brings Free Heart & Kidney Health Screenings to Glendale

Care Access, a global leader in clinical research dedicated to advancing the future of medicine, is bringing its Heart & Kidney Health Screening initiative to Glendale, Arizona. The program aims to raise awareness and offer testing for key health risk factors, including lipoprotein(a) or Lp(a), a harmful type of cholesterol that affects one in five people. Elevated Lp(a) levels significantly raise the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Despite the widespread presence of lipoprotein(a) or Lp(a)—a dangerous type of cholesterol that affects one in five people—most individuals are unaware of their Lp(a) levels due to limited access to testing. This lack of awareness is concerning, as elevated Lp(a) significantly increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Unlike other cholesterol types, Lp(a) cannot be managed with diet or exercise, and there are currently no approved medications to lower it. Raising awareness about this risk factor is crucial for early detection and prevention.

To address this, Care Access is offering no-cost Heart & Kidney Health Screenings in Glendale, Arizona. These screenings include Lp(a) testing and assessments for other related health risks, such as kidney and metabolism conditions. The initiative is part of Care Access’ Future of Medicine program, which aims to provide valuable health insights while encouraging community involvement in clinical trials for new treatments targeting Lp(a) and other cardiovascular conditions.

The Future of Medicine program includes three key components:

  1. No-Cost Testing: Free screenings for heart and kidney health risks, including Lp(a), providing participants with important information about their health.
  2. Health Education: Raising awareness about cardiovascular health and the role of clinical research in advancing medical treatments.
  3. Clinical Trial Awareness: Offering guidance on local clinical trial opportunities and fostering greater community engagement in medical research.

Care Access will hold the screening events from November 13-16 at the Gala Event Center (8830 N 43rd Avenue, Glendale, AZ). Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduling an appointment is recommended at MyFreeHeartTest.com.

“Many people are unaware of their Lp(a) levels and the health risks associated with them,” said Dr. Donna DeSantis, Principal Investigator at Care Access – Mesa. “By providing these free screenings, we are giving individuals the knowledge they need to take control of their heart health.”

Care Access also operates a clinical research facility in Mesa, bringing more research opportunities closer to residents in the Greater Phoenix area.
