Auna Signs Five-Year Deal to Enhance Oncology Services in Monterrey

Auna S.A. (NYSE: AUNA), a leading Latin American healthcare company with operations in Mexico, Peru, and Colombia, has announced a significant step in strengthening its oncology services in Mexico. The company has signed an exclusive five-year agreement with Opción Oncología, a prestigious oncology clinic in Monterrey. This partnership is poised to reinforce Auna’s position as the leading oncology provider in Mexico and marks an important move towards consolidating oncology services within Auna Mexico.

Under the terms of this agreement, eight highly respected physicians—six oncologists and two radiation oncologists—will join Auna’s network. Currently, these physicians manage approximately 30% of all private oncology treatments in Monterrey, referring patients to various facilities throughout the city. As part of the collaboration, Auna plans to integrate 100% of these treatments within its network over time, thereby enhancing care coordination and improving the overall patient experience.

The physicians will relocate their practice to Doctors Hospital, further enhancing Auna’s oncology capabilities. This move will position Auna’s Oncology Center as one of the few multidisciplinary, fully integrated oncology centers in Mexico’s private healthcare sector.

Notable doctors joining Auna include Dr. César González de León and Dr. Cuauhtémoc De la Peña Hinojosa, both of whom are highly regarded as leading oncologists in Mexico and widely referenced in their field. Dr. González will assume a leadership role at Auna’s Oncology Board, serving as Chair of Medical Oncology and Co-Chair of the practice at Auna’s Center of Excellence in Oncology in Mexico. Meanwhile, Dr. De la Peña Hinojosa will lead Radiation Oncology as Chair of Radiation Oncology on Auna Mexico’s Oncology Board.

This strategic partnership aligns with Auna’s broader expansion plans and its commitment to delivering world-class oncology care. It follows the successful launch of OncoMexico in 2024 and paves the way for the upcoming inauguration of Auna’s Oncology Research Center in Mexico. This new research facility will collaborate with Auna’s existing research centers in Peru and Colombia, further advancing clinical research and cancer treatment throughout Latin America.

Suso Zamora, Executive Chairman and President of Auna, expressed his enthusiasm about the agreement: “This partnership is a critical milestone for Auna in Mexico as we continue implementing the AunaWay. By uniting some of the country’s most respected oncology experts and consolidating our oncology services, we are reinforcing our mission to provide the highest quality cancer care. With this partnership, Auna is on track to become the leading oncology provider in Monterrey.”

Dr. González de León and Dr. De la Peña Hinojosa also shared their excitement about the collaboration: “We are excited to join Auna’s mission to elevate oncology care in Mexico. This partnership provides an opportunity to enhance patient care, advance research, and set new standards in oncology treatment. We are looking forward to working together to make a positive impact on the future of cancer care in Mexico.”

The partnership between Auna and Opción Oncología will not only provide patients with access to the best in oncology care but also facilitate the integration of a robust clinical research program. Auna’s Oncology Research Center, along with its established research centers in Peru and Colombia, will be instrumental in driving clinical research initiatives and enhancing cancer treatment options for patients across the region.

This agreement underscores Auna’s commitment to improving access to healthcare and advancing medical innovation in Latin America. Auna’s integrated approach to healthcare, which combines state-of-the-art facilities with highly specialized care, is central to its mission of transforming the healthcare landscape in the Spanish-speaking Americas.
