Care Access Acquires Brazil’s CEMEC Clinical Research Center
Care Access, a global healthcare and research company, has announced the acquisition of Centro Multidisciplinar de Estudos Clínicos (CEMEC), a leading clinical research center in Brazil. This acquisition represents a significant step in Care Access’ broader strategy to expand its research capabilities in Latin America, enhancing access to new medicines and vaccines across the region.
CEMEC is known for its innovative approach to conducting large multicenter clinical studies for pharmaceutical companies, making it one of the foremost research centers in Brazil. This acquisition builds on Care Access’ previous expansion efforts, which include the acquisition of Instituto Brasil de Pesquisa Clínica (IBPClin) in 2022, the opening of a new research center in Xerém, Rio de Janeiro in 2024, and a planned center in São Paulo in May 2025. In addition, Care Access has plans for further expansion, with new research centers planned in Brazil, Argentina, and other Latin American countries, alongside an expansion of their mobile clinics and logistics hub. These efforts aim to increase the availability of clinical research in communities throughout Latin America.
By acquiring CEMEC, Care Access will be able to expand its reach in Brazil and offer even greater access to clinical research opportunities for local communities. This strategic partnership supports CEMEC’s mission to increase research access in Brazil, especially for underserved populations who often face challenges in accessing clinical trial opportunities. The acquisition strengthens Care Access’ efforts to bring cutting-edge health services and research to more communities in Latin America, directly contributing to improving healthcare outcomes in the region.
CEMEC operates a state-of-the-art research center in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, with facilities designed to support clinical trials in both inpatient and outpatient settings. CEMEC has conducted over 100 clinical studies across 18 therapeutic areas since its founding, with a focus on phase 2, 3, and 4 clinical studies. The center is equipped with a multidisciplinary team of experts, ensuring high-quality clinical research outcomes. With the acquisition, Care Access plans to enhance CEMEC’s capabilities by introducing innovative research models and expanding its footprint.
Rodrigo Pavani, co-owner of CEMEC, shared his excitement about the partnership: “Care Access has a history of implementing innovative clinical trial delivery methods to make research more accessible and convenient for communities everywhere. We are excited to bring these capabilities to our research center here in Brazil, where many find it difficult to access clinical trial opportunities.” The combination of CEMEC’s expertise and Care Access’ operational support will enable broader participation in clinical trials, increasing access to life-saving treatments for more people in the region.

Care Access’ Future of Medicine program plays a critical role in accelerating enrollment in clinical trials by bringing research opportunities directly to communities, including remote and underserved areas. By reducing barriers to participation, the program aims to improve representation in clinical trials and ensure that real-world populations are accurately reflected. This inclusive approach helps speed up the availability of promising new treatments, benefiting a wider range of patients.
“Growing our presence in Latin America is a priority for us right now,” said Ahmad Namvargolian, CEO and Co-Founder of Care Access. “Some of the world’s best research centers are located there, and research opportunities are expanding rapidly in the region. CEMEC represents the gold standard for clinical research excellence in Brazil. By combining CEMEC’s established presence and expertise with Care Access’ strategic and operational support, we will bring high-quality research and care to even more communities and ultimately improve health outcomes for more people.”
The acquisition of CEMEC enhances Care Access’ capabilities in key areas, especially community-based research. With Care Access’ fleet of mobile health clinics and its innovative research model, clinical trials will be made more accessible for participants in São Paulo and surrounding communities. Moreover, Care Access’ Future of Medicine program will offer healthcare, research education, and other services, ensuring that the communities CEMEC serves have access to vital health resources. Additionally, CEMEC will benefit from the expertise and operational support of Care Access’ global team of over 1,000 clinical research professionals.
