Superior HealthPlan Marks 25th Anniversary with $25,000 Grant to NAMI El Paso

Superior HealthPlan, a leading managed care organization in Texas and a subsidiary of Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), has awarded a $25,000 grant to NAMI El Paso in honor of its 25th anniversary. The grant will support mental health services for children and youth in the El Paso community.

Superior HealthPlan, a leading managed care organization and a subsidiary of Centene Corporation, has awarded a $25,000 grant to NAMI El Paso in celebration of its 25th anniversary. The funding will help support mental health initiatives for children and youth in the El Paso area.

“Since 1999, Superior has been dedicated to providing healthcare to Texans in need,” said Mark Sanders, President and CEO of Superior HealthPlan. “As we celebrate 25 years of serving local communities, we are excited to present this special anniversary grant to NAMI El Paso, an organization that continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Texans.”

Since 2020, Superior HealthPlan has contributed over $600,000 in grant funding to various community organizations and providers, aiming to support vulnerable populations across Texas. The Superior HealthPlan Anniversary Grant Award, a new initiative, invited community organizations and schools throughout the state to apply for funding. A committee reviewed applications and selected ten finalists, with the winner chosen by Superior employees.

“We are deeply grateful to receive this grant as Superior celebrates its 25th anniversary,” said Isidro Torres, Executive Director of NAMI El Paso. “This funding will allow us to expand our youth education programs and continue supporting individuals and families on their mental health journeys.”

Founded in 1986, NAMI El Paso has grown from a small grassroots group to a vital part of the region’s mental health support network. The organization provides peer-led support groups, educational programs, and advocacy initiatives aimed at addressing the diverse needs of the community.

With the $25,000 grant, NAMI El Paso will expand its youth-focused programs, offering free, evidence-based mental health education sessions to middle and high school students. These 50-minute sessions will feature presentations, short videos, and personal testimonies from young adults who share their mental health experiences, empowering students to engage in their own mental health journeys.

In addition to the anniversary grant, Superior HealthPlan provides ongoing funding opportunities. Each year, community organizations and providers are invited to apply for $10,000 grants. The next application deadline is March 31, 2025, with grants to be awarded in April 2025.
