e4shield™: New Frontline Weapon Against Viruses at MEDICA

e4life, a joint venture formed by two global leaders—ELT Group, a world leader in electronic defense, and Lendlease, experts in large-scale urban regeneration—will present its e4shield™ technology at MEDICA 2024. The prestigious event, which serves as a key gathering for the healthcare and technology sectors, will take place in Düsseldorf from November 11–14.

With its focus on “One Health”, e4life is committed to driving innovation in health protection. Through cutting-edge technological solutions, the company aims to enhance safety and contribute to global well-being.

“The health of the planet is inextricably linked to the health of all living beings,” explains e4life CEO Vincenzo Pompa, highlighting the core of the ‘One Health’ concept. This approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, and underscores the need for integrated solutions to address global health challenges. Pompa adds, “At e4life, we envision a future where people can safely interact in everyday spaces without concern. This drives our commitment to researching and developing advanced technologies that neutralize viruses and reduce health risks in spaces shared by humans and animals.”

This vision led to the development of e4shield™, an innovative technology that uses electromagnetic waves to deactivate viruses, including COVID-19, seasonal influenza, avian flu, and swine flu. Proven to have over 90% efficacy, e4shield™ is the only technology of its kind globally. Despite its origins in military technology, it is completely safe for humans and animals. The device has received regulatory certification for marketing in Europe, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Morocco, and Egypt.

e4shield™’s Technology and Development

Developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, e4shield™ technology stems from the ELT Group’s initiative to explore the use of electromagnetic fields for virus inactivation. The foundational research, published by Taiwanese scientists in the Nature Scientific Reports journal, demonstrated the potential of electromagnetic waves to target and neutralize viral pathogens. Initially tested on COVID-19, the technology was expanded to address other coronaviruses.

What sets e4shield™ apart is its reliance on microwave transmission rather than chemicals or filters. By combining specific frequencies and power levels, the technology creates a “resonance” effect that disrupts the balance between the positive charges inside the virus and the negative charges in its outer shell (capsid), causing the virus’s envelope to break apart. This process effectively reduces the virus’s ability to spread and infect others.

Scientific Validation and Efficacy

e4shield™ has undergone extensive validation across multiple scientific institutions. It has been rigorously tested and verified by respected organizations such as the Celio Military Hospital, the ViroStatics Institute, and two peer-reviewed studies published in Viruses and European Society of Medicine journals. Notably, a test conducted at the University of Milan demonstrated the technology’s efficacy in neutralizing SARS-CoV-2 and H1N1 influenza viruses, achieving nearly 90% inactivation.

Additionally, e4shield™ has been recognized by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) as a technology that can improve indoor air quality.

Adaptable and Evolving Technology

One of the key strengths of e4shield™ is its adaptability. The technology can be tailored to target specific pathogens, with proven efficacy against COVID-19 (including variants) and seasonal flu, achieving over 95% virus inactivation. As part of its ongoing development, e4life is working to extend the technology’s capabilities to address more viruses and, in the near future, bacteria. Users can easily download updates for new frequencies targeting additional pathogens via the e4life app available on Android and iOS.

Product Offerings

Currently, there are two versions of e4shield™ on the market:

  • e4shield™ Personal: A portable version for individual use.
  • e4shield™ Ambient: A fixed version designed for installation in larger spaces such as offices, hospitals, schools, and public areas.

Additionally, e4life has introduced e4life FARM, a specialized device for livestock farms aimed at combating viral diseases like avian flu and swine flu, which threaten poultry and pig farming. Using the same technology as the consumer versions, e4life FARM neutralizes over 90% of viral load in the air, including droplets as small as 10 microns, almost in real-time.

A Global Health Solution

With its groundbreaking approach to virus inactivation, e4life is positioning e4shield™ as a game-changing solution for improving public health safety. By addressing viral threats in both human and animal populations, and offering adaptable technology that can evolve with emerging pathogens, e4life continues to pave the way for safer, healthier environments worldwide.
