CVS Health® (NYSE: CVS) is proactively preparing for the impending landfall of Hurricane Helene in Florida. The company prioritizes the health and safety of its customers, members, and employees, aiming to provide communities with essential products and services ahead of the storm.
CVS Pharmacy® is reaching out to patients via text, email, and phone calls to remind them to refill and pick up prescriptions. Additionally, stores are stocking up on emergency supplies, including water, batteries, and first aid items.
CVS Caremark®, the pharmacy benefit manager, is allowing one-time emergency refills for a 10-day supply of medication for members in affected areas.
Patients of CVS Specialty® located in emergency zones and on specialty medications will be contacted to discuss alternative delivery arrangements as needed.
Aetna® clinical response teams are increasing their outreach to Medicare and Commercial members in potentially impacted regions, ensuring they have access to emergency services.
Moreover, Aetna is expanding its Resources For Living (RFL) services, allowing individuals and organizations to access care beyond their existing benefits. This includes mental health phone support, a dedicated crisis support website, and community resource information. Those without RFL can call 1-833-327-AETNA, while RFL members should use their designated contact numbers.
CVS Health is also reaching out to colleagues in at-risk areas to ensure their safety and provide crisis support. Community resources and emotional support services are available through the company’s employee assistance program.
CVS Pharmacy stores will adhere to local evacuation orders. In case of mandatory closures, stores will reopen as soon as it is safe. If a store remains closed for more than a day, phone lines will redirect to the nearest open CVS Pharmacy to assist patients in accessing their prescriptions. Patients with upcoming vaccinations will be notified of any appointment changes via email or text.
CVS Health advises the following tips for those affected by the storm to ensure their prescription needs are met:
- Follow Local Evacuation Orders: Prioritize safety and refill medications at the nearest pharmacy to avoid long lines and delays.
- Use a Waterproof Bag: Keep your current medication, even empty bottles, to assist pharmacy staff with refill requests. Protect medications from extreme weather conditions.
- Maintain a Written Record: Keep a list of current prescriptions, dosages, and your doctor’s contact information, especially if taking multiple medications.
CVS Health is committed to supporting local communities and is collaborating with disaster relief organizations to aid in storm response and recovery.
