SamanTree Medical’s Histolog® Scanner Receives FDA Clearance, Revolutionizing Tissue Imaging in the U.S.

SamanTree Medical, a pioneer in surgical imaging technology, has announced that its Histolog® Scanner has received FDA 510(k) clearance. This groundbreaking Swiss device offers real-time, high-resolution imaging of fresh tissue surfaces, enabling detailed visualization of internal microstructures such as cells, vessels, and their organization. The Histolog® Scanner is set to transform how surgeons and pathologists analyze excised tissue.

The Histolog® Scanner offers real-time, ultrafast confocal microscopy for immediate imaging of resected tissues, aiming to enhance efficiency for physicians.

“We’re thrilled to introduce the Histolog® Scanner to the U.S. market,” said Charles Carignan, Executive Chairman of SamanTree Medical. “FDA clearance is a significant milestone for us, as the Histolog® Scanner provides surgeons and pathologists with instant, actionable insights into tissue microstructures.”

Alex Mottrie, Head of Urology at OLV Hospital in Aalst, Belgium, and Director of the ORSI Academy, added, “This cutting-edge technology offers high-resolution, real-time imaging of freshly removed tissue, enabling more informed decision-making.”

Ari D. Brooks, director of endocrine and oncologic surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital, remarked, “Histolog technology could dramatically cut costs and time by providing high-resolution, real-time imaging.” Douglas Scherr, clinical director of urologic oncology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, noted, “Real-time imaging at this resolution enhances patient care by allowing immediate decision-making.”

The FDA clearance of the Histolog® Scanner represents a key step in SamanTree Medical’s global expansion, facilitating broader access to its advanced imaging solutions in the U.S. market.
