Aetna® Donates $100K to Safer Foundation

Aetna Better Health® of Illinois, a CVS Health® company (NYSE: CVS), has donated $100,000 to the Safer Foundation to aid in housing unhoused families in Chicago. This funding has already helped Safer Foundation place 13 families, totaling 22 individuals, into homes in Cook County.

Safer Foundation supports formerly incarcerated individuals by offering reentry services, including housing stability, employment, and education. Aetna’s donation enhances these efforts by providing critical housing support, contributing to the stability and well-being of those reintegrating into society.

“Stable housing is crucial for a healthy life and well-being,” said Rushil Desai, CEO of Aetna Better Health of Illinois. “We’re proud to support Safer Foundation in their mission to provide homes and improve lives.”

Anthony Lowery, associate vice president of Reentry Housing Services at Safer Foundation, noted, “Aetna’s investment has significantly boosted our ability to help families find housing. It also supports our expansion into the Cook County Affordable Home Opportunities partnership, extending housing options to those in need.”

Aetna has invested over $800,000 in Illinois organizations, focusing on Medicaid members’ needs such as healthy food access, job development, and housing support. Aetna Better Health of Illinois serves over 397,000 Medicaid members across 102 counties, offering value-added benefits and demonstrating positive results in health and member satisfaction.
